WHOA.

[Ed's sitting upside-down on a bench somewhere]

EVERYTHING CHAAAAANGED.

It's all... SO DIFFERENT.

[Waaaaait a second...]

But waaaait... [she topples off of the bench and looks around, right-side up, this time]

NOW ED KNOWS... actually no, she doesn't. [sadface, :(]

[yeah, that sadface didn't last for very long.] HELLOOOOOO, FRIENDS. EDWARD IS VERY PLEASED TO MEET EVERYONE!!

GOOD POINT. [abruptly stands up and does a backflip, spectacularly landing on a bench. She holds the leaf out like a prize]

PINK LEAF, ACTIVATE!

[nothing happens, duh.]

Aww. [momentary sadface.]

[laughing here]

Maybe you've just gotta wait for it.

Hmph.

[she pauses to think for a moment. Then she brightens up suddenly and shreds the leaf into little tiny pieces and throws it up in the air!]

PINK CONFETTI! Now the magicalness is everywhere!

[and wouldn't you know it, some of the pieces MYSTERIOUSLY catch on fire, giving them a brief violet-black glow as they fall to the ground, disappearing as they're consumed by the tiny flames. Axel, of course, watches this with a straight face.]

Hey, you're right.

[HOLY CRAP DID YOU SEE THAT?]

Woooow.

Wonder what that did.

Magic, duh.

But different kinds of magic can do different things.

Hmm. Well.

Seemed to Edward that now Axel gets three wishes.

Oh, do I? Not a genie in sight though.

[Sighs dramatically and flings her arms out.]

The leaf, silly! Magic leaves don't need genies.

[mock thoughtfulness goes here]

Then...I wish for fireworks.

[and just as he finishes, several sparks fly up high above their heads in the air and explode in a miniature display of pyrotechnics]

[WHEEE EXPLOSIONS!! 8D]

WOW!!

[he hasn't had this much fun in a long time.]

Huh, what d'ya know. Think I'll wish for...birds next.

[birds made of fire, but they still have wings and look perfectly normal flying around]

[Ed is easily amused. But then, she's never seen a MAGICAL pyrotechnic show before. AND OH MAN FIREBIRDS THAT'S SOOOOO COOL!]

THAT'S AWESOME! [Tries to chase them around... but is at least smart enough to not touch them. Fire, duh.]

[so amused. He'll even tolerate the loudness that surrounds Ed all the time because hey, since when was good entertainment ever quiet?]

Aw, down to my last one already.

Hm...I wish for birds that you can actually touch.

[the birds disappear to be replaced by identical ones, except passing a hand through one of these will just feel like a warm breeze.]

[Wide-eyed, she looks at Axel hesitantly, because hey, since when could anyone ever touch fire? But also, magic. So she shrugs and reaches out... and when she makes contact she breaks out into a smile of pure, unadulterated joy.]

I get the strangest feeling that you're having fun.

[Quietly. Still kind of in awe of touching the firebirds.]

Maybe.

Maybe they'll let you keep them.

Really? Do you think so?

Sure, why not.

[Happy grin! She takes one of the birds into her hands and asks very politely. :)] Would you like to stay with Ed, pretty fire birdie?

[the bird nods and quickly flaps its wings before settling down quietly in Ed's hands. Axel actually isn't controlling the bird at this point; it's more like he's given this little part of the element he controls a limited sentience.]

[Ed's grin is huge. :D] Yay! What should Ed name you?
