[Edward has obtained one (1) chessboard, complete with chess pieces. She's got them set up, and is sitting behind the white pieces. She's made a move, and just waits. She's very obviously second level, and it's rather clear she's silently inviting anyone who wants to play chess with her.

...but be warned, Edward is one hell of a chess player.]

((OOC: Chess time with Edward! Since I personally am terrible at chess, I propose the following: we pre-determine the winner, and then just hold the conversation or whatever, we don't have to document the moves. Or, if your character doesn't like chess, feel free to suggest another game or just have a conversation!))

[And well enough that she's definitely collecting a large amount of his pieces. He's rather perturbed by his inability to pinpoint her to a specific strategy, and as the game stretches on it starts to show a little more and more.]

[But though it's clear she's gaining the upper hand, she keeps playing as she had from the beginning, no gloating. She is, however, taking advantage of his inability to predict her moves and his slight frustration.]

[Unfortunately, yes. He doesn't seem to be reacting well. Mumbling to himself under his breath, his actions seem rather terse. For each piece he manages to capture he smiles grimly, but at the same time the same grim smile doesn't leave his face when she takes one of his.]

[And her strange moves seem to be culminating in something, but it's still hard to tell what.

She takes his queen.]

[No emotion flickers across his face, but it doesn't need to - the way the shadows and light is telling enough as he stares at the board as if it's going to fly away... and makes what he knows will be his last move.]

[With one decisive move of a knight, she declares]

Checkmate!

Good job, that was fun!

[And like a switch, it's back to pleasant happy mode.]

Quite! It was certainly something different...

[identity profile] timeforjam.livejournal.com 2009-01-07 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh she saw that. But like a good crazy happy Edward, she won't mention it.]

Next time you'll be more ready.

[identity profile] surpraizepitaph.livejournal.com 2009-01-07 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
Of course! It was a good opportunity to learn. Perhaps next game won't be quite as easy for you...

[identity profile] timeforjam.livejournal.com 2009-01-07 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
[A rather wicked grin. Oh, she can't resist this one, sorry.]

Or maybe it will be, who knows.

It's impossible to say. Unlike computers, humans tend not to follow easily predictable paths and choices.

[identity profile] timeforjam.livejournal.com 2009-01-07 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
Right! We'll just have to seeeeee.

[identity profile] surpraizepitaph.livejournal.com 2009-01-07 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed we shall, Miss Edward... [And he bows a bit before he drops, but with that gleam in his eye...]

[Oh dearie me. Ed is quite looking forward to next time. She sweeps the board clean of the pieces and resets it la di daaa]
